Man put before court for assaulting pregnant woman

Abraham Tetteh, a sanitary labourer of the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA), accused of indecently assaulting his former wife, Madam Noeitey Akato was on Monday remanded in custody by a Tema circuit tribunal.

He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on October 11.

Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the tribunal chaired by Mr Ringo Cass Azumah that the woman's new husband was travelling and asked his eight-month pregnant wife to stay with her mother at Kpone where the accused also lives.

She said at about 9pm of September 23, this year, Madam Akato, who said she was feeling warm, slept on a bench behind her mother's room.

The accused appeared from no where dragged her from the bench and indecently assaulted her.

The accused was never seen again until September 28 when he was arrested.
