Regional Minister says bears opponents no grudge

Ajumako (Central Region) 01 March 2001

The Central Regional Minister, Mr. Isaac Edumadze, on Sunday assured his political opponents that he bears them no grudge.

"As a father of the region, I have forgiven all those who have offended me and I also ask for forgiveness from those I have offended.

"Let us do away with animosities and unite to improve the standard of living of our people."

Mr. Edumadze gave the assurance at a well-attended thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church at Ajumako.

He said he would welcome good advice as well as constructive criticism but would not entertain sycophants.

The Regional Minister appealed to the people to remember him in their prayers since his strength and wisdom alone cannot help him to effectively discharge the work entrusted to him.

In a sermon, the Reverend John A. Crentsil, Superintendent Minister in charge of the Church, expressed concern about the careless attitude of some Ghanaians towards work and life in general.

"There are people in this world who live easy, careless and indifferent lives, forgetting that disaster may one day overtake them.

"For example, a family head who sells land does not care about where the future generation will put up their houses."

Rev. Crentsil urged Ghanaians to refrain from fabricating stories about their political opponents to win favour or score cheap political points, adding that such behaviour does not augur well for the nation's young democracy.

He commended the NPP for honouring the regional minister, who is a member of the church.
