MUSIGA to hold concert on Election 2000

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) will on Friday evening host a musical concert dubbed, "Election 2000 musical Show", at its premises at the Old Passport Office.

The Union will launch its latest album dubbed "Peace" which is dedicated to the holding of free presidential and parliamentary elections in December.

The concert will be held in collaboration with the Electoral Commission (EC), the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

A statement in Accra signed by Nana Adwoa Kwegyir-Aggrey, Assistant Project Manager, RICS Consult Limited, said the concert would be the contribution of the musicians towards the upholding and strengthening of peace and democracy in the country.

The statement noted that an album composed by 52 musicians in four flavours -- raggae, highlife, hip life and gospel music will be sung to entertain and educate the audience.

"The music will also be in the various major languages in Ghana to enable all citizens to get the message the album seeks to put across."

The Album highlights on issues like unity in diversity and the need for issues that affect the destiny of Ghanaians to be discussed dispassionately and objectively devoid of political colour.
