Accra (Greater Accra) 12 October 2001 - A seminar on Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa will be held in Accra on October 17.
A statement in Accra on Friday said the seminar, organised by the French Embassy under the auspices of the African Association for a Unified System of Business Laws (UNIDA) and the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), would be chaired by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The OHADA aims at promoting regional integration and economic growth and ensuring a secure legal environment through harmonisation of business law. The statement said the seminar intends to introduce OHADA to decision makers from various political, economic, financial, legal and academic backgrounds.
It will also stress the need for Ghana to become a member to enhance her legal environment and gain more confidence from prospective private investors. The statement said 16 countries are members and the seminar is open to any member of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).
