Photo exhibition of Asantehene's visit to Britain opens

 

Kumasi (Greater Accra) 05 October 2001-A photo exhibition on the first visit of the

Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after his enstoolment to United Kingdom opened at the British Council in Kumasi.

 

Mr K. D. Kufuor, a photojournalist of the Guardian newspaper was the photographer.

 

Mr Ivor Agyemang-Duah, a Media Consultant said the Kent Institute of Photography, where Mr Kufuor was studying at that time, bore the cost of the printing while Limex Bau, a construction firm paid for the framing of the photographs.

 

He said high quality paper and other materials were used in printing the pictures, which would last for more than 20 years. They would be used to decorate the Asantehene's new palace.

 

Limex Bau presented a 10 million-cedi cheque to the Otumfuo Education Fund at the ceremony.

 

Mr Ofosu Appiah, General Manager of the company, said it was the company's contribution towards Otumfuo's desire to ensure education for all irrespective of financial status.

 

Mr Kwadwo Aduhene, Chief Executive of the firm, said the new management has been able to salvage the company from total collapse and was now able to execute projects on schedule.

 

Mr I.K. Gyasi, Executive Secretary of the Fund, expressed appreciation to the company for the donation.
