Danish delegation arrives for talks with AGI

Accra (Greater Accra) 16 Oct. 2000

 

A four-member Confederation of Danish Industries delegation led by the Director General of the organisation, Mr Hass Skov Christensen, arrived in Accra on Sunday to hold discussions with officials of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) to strengthen collaboration began about two years ago.

Mr Chistensen, who is also a member of the board of DANIDA, said he would assess some projects between the organisation and their Ghanaian counterparts.

He said the delegation would assess areas the Confederation could support AGI to ensure industrial development in Ghana.

Mr Chistensen noted that many Danish companies are operating in Ghana and expressed the hope that they would transfer appropriate technology to the country.

The President of AGI, Mr Kofi Kludjeson, Mr Charles Mensah, Vice President of the Association and the Danish Ambassador, Mr Ole Blischer Olsen, met the delegation on arrival.

GSE All-Share Index closes lower

Accra (Greater Accra) 16 Oct. 2000

 

The GSE All-Share Index, the key gauge of the Ghana Stock Exchange, closed lower by 5.59 points Monday, pushed down by a 100 cedi loss by Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL).

The index, which also lost on Friday, dipped Monday despite gains by Aluworks (ALW). It closed at 847.03 points, down from 852.98 on Friday. ALW has continued its impressive gains in recent weeks, gaining 45 cedis in Monday's trading.

Total shares traded fell heavily from 329,200 Friday to 12,800 Monday.

Shares offered far out-stripped bids. Offers closed trading at 909,910 compared to 1.6 million recorded on Friday.

Bids dropped to 87,200 shares, down from 469,600 at the previous session. Market capitalisation decreased to 3,613.82 billion cedis from 3,624.94 billion cedis.

On the broader market, there were two price changes - one down and the other up. GGL lost 100 cedis to close trading down at 700 cedis while ALW gained 45 cedis to open the week at 3,150 cedis.
