World Bank has hotline for reporting fraud

Accra (Greater Accra), 22nd October 99

A telephone hotline to facilitate the reporting of allegations of fraud and corruption in connection with World Bank financed projects has been established by the World Bank Group.

The toll free number is 1-800-831-0463 and it would be accessible from most countries by contacting an AT&T operator and asking to be connected to the bank's hotline.

Two additional mechanisms have also been established to allow both Bank Group staff and the public to contact the bank to report fraudulent and corrupt practices.

The hotline, 704-556-7046 would enable individuals to book collect call to contact the World Bank hotline anywhere in the world at no expense to the caller.

The other mechanism announced by the bank would also enable individuals who do not have access to a telephone or who do not wish to make contact by telephone to communicate with the World Bank hotline via a post office box at:
