Gyedu Blay Ambuley, the renowned Ghanaian highlife musician of the Ragm Zo fame, has joined the Megastar label.

This was at a ceremony in Accra on Friday night, where Ambuley endorsed a renewable contract document between himself and Megastar, with the support of Miss Beatrice Ambuley, his sister who witnessed for him.

The ceremony formed part of activities marking the on-going second Ghana International Tourism Fair, dubbed Inter-Tourism '99.

Mr Raymond Adu, General Manager of Megastar signed for his organisation.

By the terms of the agreement, Ambuley is to concentrate on his intellectual property- -the composition and writing of songs whiles the Megastar undertakes the promotion, sales and marketing of his work.

Mr Joseph Sam, legal advisor of Megastar, said the move is to ensure that the rights and obligations of artistes are respected, adding, "this agreement will also help the parties to avoid any litigation."

Mr Ambuley assured his fans that his relationship with Megastar "was intended for me to move my base from the United States to Ghana so that I can assist up and coming musicians in the country."

Mr Joe Mensah, Consultant to Megastar, said his organisation is reviewing the highlife music to ensure its international acceptability.

"That is why we are making efforts to get our old and overseas-based stars to re-enter the local music scene to give our effort the impetus it needs."

The function was also used to launch the new album of Pat Thomas of Sika Ye Mogya fame.

The new album, Sika Nantee, under the Megastar label, promises to be a hit on the local and international scene sooner than later.

With this new album, Pat Thomas now has to his credit five albums which include Sika Ye Mogya, Yesu san bra, Me wo Akoma and Enso Nyame ye.

The two ceremonies were climaxed with a performance by the two stars and other Megastars at the Open Air Pavilion of the Trade Fair site.
