House of Chiefs to elect president.
Accra (Greater Accra) 24 November 2001- The Electoral Commission on Friday said members of the National House of Chiefs would meet on Tuesday, November 27, to elect their president and vice president following the end-of-term of the incumbents.
A statement signed by the public affairs director of the commission, named the contestants for the position of president as Odeneho Gyapong Ababio II, Omanhene of Sefwi Bekwai, Barima Kwame Nkyi II, Omanhene of Assin Apinaman and Naa Professor John Sebiyam Nabila, Wulugu Naba.
Nii Tetteh Otu II, Sempe Mantse and Naa Banamini Sandu, Kaleo Na, are vying for the position of vice president. The election would take place at National House of Chiefs, Kumasi, the statement said.
