Ghana International Book Fair opens

The Ghana International Book Fair
got underway on Saturday ahead of the official opening on Monday.
Over 11 foreign and 20 local
exhibitors would display books and other materials from the industry at the
one-week fair under the theme, "A Reading Child, An Enlightened
Adult".
It is being organised by the Ghana
Trade Fair Company (GTFC), the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to
encourage children to cultivate the habit of reading, enable local exhibitors
to exchange ideas with their foreign counterparts and to enable stakeholders to
see latest technologies in the industry.
Other activities planned include
seminars for librarians, book launch and a reading and quiz competition for
school children.
When the Ghana News Agency visited
the Fair grounds, most of the exhibitors were busy putting finishing touches to
their stand while some took advantage of the large presence of school children
to do brisk business.
They were optimistic that the fair would make the desired impact
since visitors could get books on all subjects under the same roof.
