Bosomtwe Rural Bank assists communities

 Abrenkese (Ashanti), 23rd November 99

The Bosomtwe Rural Bank in Ashanti has supplied materials estimated at 4.8 million cedis to a number of educational institutions and communities in its catchment area under the Bank's Community improvement programme this year.

The materials included furniture for the library of Oppong Memorial Secondary School at Kokofu, bundles of roofing sheets to Kokofu and Morontuo primary schools and Abrenkese Junior Secondary School workshop.

Mr. J. E. K. Mainoo, Administrator of Bosomtwe Rural Bank, who disclosed this to newsmen at Abrenkese in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District said the Bank also supported the people of Beposo near Morontu in their Borehole Water project with 600,000 cedis.

He said the Bank spent about 25 million cedis on its community improvement projects last year, adding that they are working out effective and comprehensive scholarship package for needy students this year.

Presenting the two bundles of roofing sheets estimated at 400,000 cedis to the Chiefs and people of Abrenkese, Mr. Johnny Achibra, General Manager of the Bank, stressed that the bank has initiated a lot of programmes and policies aimed at improving the living standard of the people.

He, therefore, called on the people to appreciate the Bank's efforts and save with it so that it could continue to offer assistance to them.

Mr Paul Kwaku Antwi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank asked the people to buy more shares from the Bank and also send their Securities to the Bank for safe keeping.

Nana Kofi Dadie, Akwamuhene of the town, who received the items, thanked the Directors of the Bank for the assistance and said they would go a long way to help improve education in the area.
