GAMA signs agreement on film marketing

KAMA Marketing and Distribution Company, a Ghanaian film marketing company on Thursday signed an agreement with GAMA Film Company Limited to promote, Dark Sands, a film produced by GAMA.

Under the agreement, KAMA has the sole right to market the film both locally and internationally.

Mr Berifi Apenteng, General Manager, signed for GAMA while Mr Godfred Quansah, Managing Director initialled for KAMA.

Mr Quansah said his company has noted the frustrations of present day Ghanaian film producers and has taken it upon itself to assist in the area of marketing.

"We aim at bringing an end to the frustrations of Ghanaian film producers who hitherto had to carry their video cassettes under their armpits moving from cinema hall to cinema hall arranging to have their films screened.

"It is pathetic and discouraging to suffer to produce a film and suffer even more to look for a place to project that film...and KAMA hopes to bring an end to this order."

Mr Quansah said since its establishment six years ago, the company has successfully promoted 14 Ghanaian films to the satisfaction of both the film makers and producers.

"Our mission is to endeavour to provide ready local markets for Ghanaian films at all cinema halls, video centres and every home throughout the country for the benefit of the producer and the consumer."

Mr Apenteng said GFC has, in addition to the agreement, offered KAMA four million cedis worth of free air time for advertisements.

GFC will also make available some of its facilities to support KAMA in its endeavour.

Mr Apenteng said this forms part of GFC's objective to assist independent film producers, distributors and promoters to stand on their feet and help raise the standard of film making in the country.
