Forty year old remanded for defiling girl, six

An Accra Circuit Tribunal on Tuesday remanded in custody, Felix Mensah, an environmentalist, who allegedly defiled a six-year-old girl.
The accused, 40, pleaded not guilty and would appear again on November 16.
The tribunal chaired by Mrs Frances Owusu-Arhin heard that the complainant lives with her daughter at Mamprobi in Accra, while Mensah also lives in an adjacent house.
Sometime in October, this year, the girl went to a hairdresser at Mamprobi to plait her hair and while waiting for her turn, Mensah who knows the girl called her and engaged her in a chat.
The prosecution said during the conversation, the accused lured the girl to a corner of the house, removed her panties, inserted his fingers into her private part and sexually assaulted her.
He warned the victim not to disclose what had happened, else she would die.
On October 28, this year, the victim became ill and discharged a whitish substance from her private part.
Upon inspection, her mother noticed a sore around the victim's private part and upon questioning, she told her mother what had happened.
The victim's mother made a report to the Mamprobi Police who directed that the victim be sent to hospital for treatment and arrested Mensah.
