Land for Sekondi Export Zone demarcated

Eight hundred and seventy five hectares of land has been demarcated for the establishment of an Export Processing Enclave in Sekondi.

The lands are at Ashiem, Mpintsim, Anoe and Sofokrom, Mr. E. K. Kumi, Desk Officer of the Free Zone Board in the Western Region, told the GNA in Sekondi on Tuesday.

Mr. Kumi, who is also the Deputy Western Regional Planning Officer, said the Regional Lands Valuation Board was charged to value the lands for the payment of compensation to their owners.

He said the Board has completed its work and submitted a report to its head office for approval.

If the approval were given it would be communicated to the Free Zone Board, which would then make funds available for the payment of the compensation.

Meanwhile the Town Planning Department of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) has prepared a layout for the enclave.

Mr Kumi said SAEMA is looking for funds to service the area in order to attract investors.
