Accra (Greater Accra) 31 May 2000

The fourth West African Information Technology Exhibition and Conference (AITEC) ended on Saturday in Accra with mixed reactions from the exhibitors and participants on the success or otherwise of the event. While some described it as successful and impressive, others said it was sub standard and below expectation.

The three-day exhibition and conference showcased assorted information technology (IT) products and brought together 30 local and foreign including those from the United Kingdom, United States of America, France and South Africa.

Mr. Selassie Gadegbe, Representative of Margins Company Limited, told GNA that the patronage was good and new range of computers and other IT products were displayed. He said that a lot of contacts were made which need follow ups adding that publicity for the fair was encouraging.

Mr. Leslie Osei, President of Marles Company Limited, however said that the exhibition was not up to standard.

He said that foreign participation was low and suggested that more countries should be encouraged to take part in future exhibitions.
