VALCO soccer-Aggrey, KASS reach semi-finals

Accra (Greater Accra) 27 May 2000

 

Aggrey Memorial Secondary School beat Kumasi Anglican Secondary School (KASS) 3-2 to place first in group B of the third VALCO Invitational Soccer Tournament played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

 

Both teams have however qualified for the next stage of the competition after finishing as the top two in the group which also had reigning champions, Pope John’s.

 

Aggrey raced into a two-goal lead within ten minutes when Joseph Adjetey and Richard Pobee scored in the second and tenth minutes and Philip Dorzie’s 52nd minute cracker registered them their third for the afternoon.

 

Ernest Yeboah, 13th minute and George Adu Poku, 78th, were the scorers for KASS. Earlier, Saint Augustines' beat Twene Amanfo Secondary School 1-3 on penalties after they had scored a goal apiece at full time.

 

Twene Amanfo thus qualifies for the next stage having beaten Opoku Ware in the opening group match. Twene Amanfo would take on KASS while Aggrey plays Opoku Ware on Thursday in the semi-finals.
