A 29-year old driver, Kofi Evini who took advantage of the lift he offered a student girl and raped her at a beach is in the grips of the law.
Evini, charge for rape, appeared before a Sekondi high court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned to May 29 this year.
Prosecuting, Ms Valerie Amatey, Principal State Attorney, told the court that on October 22, 1996 Evini, driving a Nissan Pick up with registration number GT. 2948 D offered the victim who was returning to school, a lift from Axim to Nkroful.
Ms Amatey said while the victim was expecting Evini to take her to school, she found herself at the Asanta beach where the accused forcibly had sex with her.
The prosecution further said Evini later took the victim back to Axim to spend the night with her but she fled and informed her relations.
A report was made to the Axim Police station and the accused was later arrested.
