Traditional Council bans buying of funeral cloth

Agona Nyakrom (Central Region) 26 March 2003- The Agona Nyakrom Traditional Council and the Town Council have banned the buying of special wax prints for funerals in the area.

The two bodies have also banned children below 18 years from attending funerals and concert shows. Nana Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, Omanhene of the area, said this at a meeting with parents, teachers, divisional chiefs and government officials.

He said any child who would be caught at any of these functions would be punished. Nana Nyakoh Eku appealed to the Agona District Assembly to help rehabilitate the market that had been abandoned for a long time. John Agyabeng, District Chief Executive for Agona, said all development projects would be completed and that the assembly would soon rehabilitate the Nyakrom market.
