Accra (Greater Accra) 7 March 2000

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) on Monday relaunched the promotion of made-in-Ghana products at the on-going Ghana International Trade Fair 2000, dubbed "the Millennium Fair".

The re-launch was to emphasise the need for Ghanaians to patronise locally manufactured goods and for the association to know the expectations of the consuming public.

The first launch took place two years ago as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the AGI.

Mr Prince Kofi Kludjeson, President of the AGI, noted that since the first launch, "the positive impact of all of us patronising made-in-Ghana goods has been immense".

He said with this re-launch, the AGI will out-door an educational campaign this month  using the media and other communication strategies to get the public to "appreciate the contribution of industry and the support needed to sustain that contribution".

Mr Kludjeson appealed to the government, the public, the media and other stakeholders in the industrial sector to support the AGI with financial and other resources to ensure the success of its public awareness campaign.

He praised the Ghana Trade Fair Company (GTFC) for the innovative arrangement to house all local manufacturers in Pavilion “A” saying, the idea is laudable and supports the promotion of made-in-Ghana products.
