Book
on serial killers launched
Tema
(Greater Accra) 12 June 2001
Dr Benjamin
Forkuoh, Obstetrician/Gynaecologist at Tema General Hospital on Sunday launched
a book on the serial killing of women and called for a concerted effort to
unravel the mystery shrouding it.
He said the
situation has assumed a dimension, which requires the assistance of all sectors
to solve and not be left in the hands of the security agencies alone.
The launch
of the 41-page book entitled "Killers" was done along side the
inauguration of a pro-women NGO, "Men in Action for Women" (MANWO) of
which Dr Forkuoh is the President.
The book,
written by Philip Hanson, an educationist contains articles on rape and
abduction and seeks to educate women on their safety.
Dr Forkuoh
said concerned about the unfortunate killings he and six others formed the
MANWO to pool their resources to help combat crime particularly against women.
In a speech
read for her, Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister of Women Affairs said the serial
killing, rape, assault on women were national issues and the government was
mobilising resources to arrest the situation.
