The chiefs and people of Damongo in the Gonja Traditional Area of the Northern Region on Thursday celebrated their annual Damba festival in accordance with custom.
The occasion was preceded by the picking of rice and slaughtering of a cow at the Yagbon Wura's palace.
In a goodwill message to the people, Yagbon Wura Doshie Bawa Abudu said he would
continue to abide by the traditional and cultural norms governing the Gonja kingdom.
He wished the government well in the administration of the country and appealed to all Muslims, Christians and traditionalists to pray for a peaceful atmosphere in this year's general election.
The Yagbon Wura asked all people living in his traditional area to live in an atmosphere of peace, harmony and tranquility and thanked all dignitaries, his divisional and sub-chiefs and all those who attended the festival.
