The Speakers of the National Assemblies
of Zambia and Namibia, Mr. Amusaa Mwanamwanbwa and Mr. Kandy Nehova, are in
Accra to attend the meeting of the standing committee of the conference of
Commonwealth Speakers, African session, which is slated for June 7-10.
The meeting will draw up a
programme for the 31st Conference of African Parliamentary Speakers to be held
in August this year in Cape Town, South Africa.
Briefing newsmen at the Kotoka
International Airport, Mr. Ken Dzirasah, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament,
said currently Ghana holds the presidency of the Commonwealth Parliamentary
Association.
Ghana successfully hosted the 30th
conference last year, he said, adding that the conference would discuss issues
on democratic governance, among other issues.
