Drab session at Stock Exchange
Accra (Greater Accra), 22nd June 99 –
The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) All-Share Index opened on Monday weaker in a drab trading session that saw the index slipping by 0.24 points to 791.79.
The index, which performed relatively well last Monday and Wednesday but fell on Friday, closed that week at 792.03.
On Monday, only seven of the 21 listed equities sold 93,500 shares, a slight decrease from the previous volume of 101,200.
Offers were lower at 3,168,930, down from 3,208,070 while bids closed down from 361,100 to 269,500.
Market capitalisation ended lower at 3,285.89 billion cedis as against Friday's 3,294.52 billion cedis.
In the broader market, two equities registered losses and there was no gainer.
Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) and Pioneer Aluminium Factory lost 10 cedis and 20 cedis to close trading at 1,990 cedis and 300 cedis respectively.
