Stock market Index takes a dip again

Accra (Greater Accra) 8th June ’99

Trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) Index took another dip on Monday to close at 818.80 points after a series of slides since the beginning of the year.

The index closed 0.25 points down from the previous 819.05 points. Change in the year to date ended at minus 5.71 per cent.

Total shares traded ended lower but in an active session that saw nine equities making sales.

Total shares traded closed at 212,600, down from 548,900 registered on Wednesday, as Friday was a holiday.

Demand ended lower at 772,800 compared with 1.183 million while offers ended at 3.3 million shares compared with 3.022 million.

Market capitalisation finished lower at 3,320.51 million cedis from the 1,010.62 billion issued shares compared with 3,320.91.

In the broader market, three equities registered price changes - two down one up.

Pioneer Aluminium Factory (PAF) went down by 20 cedis to end at 320 cedis per share while Ghana Brewery Limited (GBL) lost 10 cedis to finish trading at 1,890 cedis.

SSB Bank was the only gainer, making two cedis to end at 1,668 cedis. All the other equities maintained their previous closing prices.
