Dance and beauty pageant reaches Upper East

Bolgatanga (Upper East) 2nd June '99

Miss Novisi Aidam, 22, a student was crowned Miss Upper East region in the Club Pleasure beauty pageant in Bolgatanga at the weekend.

Victoria Akakade, 22 and Mary Serkiaah, 19, took the second and third places respectively.

Novisi took home 450,000 cedis for her prize and a ticket to represent the region at the grand-finale in Accra. Victoria and Mary had 400,000 and 300,000 cedis each for their prizes.

After three rounds of an exciting display of talent, Jerry Quartey, a 23 year old footballer, emerged champion in the dancing competition by beating 19 other contestants.

Joseph Annan, 19, came second with 20 year old Osman Sherifatu Lagfu, the only lady contestant, taking the third position.

For his prize, Jerry Quartey received 350,000 cedis while Joseph and Sherafatu took home 300,000 and 200,000 cedis respectively.

Jerry and Joseph would represent the region in the grand final.

General Marcus, a reggae star, thrilled the audience with two of his popular songs, while Robert Baah the national dance champion with his trio group did the 'Abin wo Aha' dance.

Club Pleasure '99 is organised by Media Whizz Kids and sponsored by Club Beer. The event is supported by Ghana Airways, Akosombo Textiles, Ayensu River Estates, PHC Motors, and Labadi Beach Hotel.

The other supporters of the events are Graphic Showbiz, Irroko, Joy FM and Buck press.
