Taxi driver jailed four years for stealing goat
Nsawam (Eastern Region) 04 July 2000
The Nsawam Circuit Court on Friday sentenced Nehemiah Asamoah, a taxi driver, to four years' imprisonment with hard labour, for stealing two goats.
Asamoah, 18, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court presided over by Mr Justice S. S. Appiah heard that at about 04:30 hours on June 30, police officers on duty at Nsawam, spotted a Fiat taxi cab from Suhum heading towards Accra.
Asamoah refused to stop when the police ordered him to do so. The police chased the cap and he was arrested. A searched on the cab found two goats in the boot.
At the same court Bismark Wormunor, a 32-year-old farmer from Kudjokrom, near Nsawam, was also jailed three years with hard labour for stealing a goat. Wormunor pleaded guilty to stealing.
