Market Index takes another downward turn

Accra (Greater Accra) 25 Jan. 2001

 

Negative pressures on most listed equities on Wednesday pushed the All-Share Index down by 0.02 points to close mid-week trading at 857.16 points from 857.18 points.

Prices were quoted for 15 stocks but only nine had their shares traded. The number of shares traded however climbed to 12,800 as against 8,100 sold on Monday.

Offers continued to climb up reaching 1.3 from 849,830 shares posted at the previous session.

Demand followed the upward trend moving from 158,500 to 190,400. Market capitalisation dropped slightly from 3,653.52 billion cedis to 3,653.49 billion cedis.

In the broader market there were two price changes - one negative and the other positive.

Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) gained 10 cedis at 2,880 cedis.

Pioneer Aluminium Factory (PAF) closed trading down by five cedis at 255 cedis.
