Preserve nation's heritage - Chief

Essuowin (Ashanti Region) 19 February 2003- Nana Akyena Kogyan Nuamah V, Essuowinhene, has asked the youth to shun indecent foreign dressings, attitudes and culture that were incompatible with dignified Ghanaian societal norms and traditions.

He asked chiefs to strive hard not only to protect the cultural and traditional values but also maintain the rich cultural, hospital and moral values of their forebears that helped to maintain respect, dignity and discipline among the people.

Nana Kogyan Nuamah said this after Oheneba Osei Akwasi Hyiamang, the newly-enstooled Kyidomhene of Essuowin swore the oath of allegiance to him at Essuowin in the Amansie West District on Monday.

Oheneba Osei Hyiamang, 55, is the Managing Director of Brensuo Construction Company in Accra and Kumasi. He was known in private life as Oheneba Osei Akwasi. Nana Kogyan Nuamah said the Kyidom Stool had been created for the sons of Essuowin stool in recognition of their services to the area's development.

Nana Osei Hyiamang thanked the Essuowinhene and the people for the honour done to him and the family. He pledged to advance the rapid social, cultural and economic development of the area.
