Association of Ghana Industries to step up training for its members

 

Elmina (Central Region) 04 February 2002 - The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) is to make the technical and managerial training of its member a priority to enable them meet the challenges of the "Golden age of business" as envisaged by President J. A. Kufuor.

 

Mrs Elizabeth Villars, President of the AGI who disclosed this said most Ghanaian industries were not only facing the problem of funding, but also the lack of technical and managerial skills.

 

She said in an interview on Saturday after the association's three-day National Council Strategic Planning Workshop at Elmina on the theme "Charting an industrial path for the 21st century", that the association had resolved "to put its house in order" and to develop more fruitful linkages with international agencies and the Ghana

Investment Promotions Council to build up a more serious business plan to boost industrial activities.

 

The workshop, which was attended by regional chairmen of the association and representatives from the various industrial concerns, was to come out with a working document to revamp industry.
