MUSIGA executives say not involved in visa deals
MUSIGA executives say not involved in visa deals
Accra,
(Greater Accra) 19 February 2001
The
leadership of the Greater Accra branch of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA)
on Saturday said it will not condone any attempt by musicians to indulge in
visa racketeering or any wrong-doing that will tarnish their image.
"We
have a stringent screening process in place which ensures that our members
don't take undue advantage of certain privileges," it said in a statement
signed by Mac Tontoh, Chairman.
"We
recognise that music is a global business and musicians are likely to cross
boundaries to either record, promote their works, tour or do legitimate things
to enhance their careers," he said.
Mac Tontoh
therefore advised Ghanaian musicians not to do anything that would jeopardise
the chances of colleagues who would like to travel to engage in legitimate
business.
