More companies to participate in 2000 international exhibition

About 466 companies have confirmed their participation in the Ghana International Trade Exhibition scheduled for 25 February to 7 March.
Local companies top the list with 440 participants with foreign firms numbering 26.
There will also be representation from 150 companies from 11 countries, Mr Lawrence Gidigasu, Director of Exhibition of the Ghana Trade Fair Company (GTFC) announced at a meeting of exhibitors to outdoor programmes and rules governing the fair.
The meeting discussed the modalities for the allocation of stands, registration, publicity, conduct of exhibitors, security and utilities arrangements to ensure success.
The fair has been projected to raise about 80 million dollars.
Mr Gidigasu said companies from the United States, France, Italy, Turkey, Malaysia, Germany, Egypt, Iran, China, Syria, South Africa, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Senegal and Russia are among the foreign countries that have declared their intention to participate.
He said the Ghana-France Chamber of Commerce, Brazil, Cuba, Liberia, Mali and Burkina Faso have made reservations.
Mr Gidigasu announced that the deadline for registration has been extended to 10 February from 31 January to give more companies the opportunity to register.
Mr Kwame Ofori Amanfo, Acting Chief Executive of GTFC said arrangements have been completed with the Ghana Water Company Limited and the Electricity Company of Ghana to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity during the fair.
He said the GTFC has engaged the services of private security firms to patrol and maintain law and order.
Mr Ofori Amanfo advised exhibitors to co-operate with officials of GTFC to make the fair successful.
