Business returns
to normal in Kumasi
Kumasi (Ashanti Region) 29
December 2000
Business and commercial activities
in the Kumasi Metropolis resumed normally in Kumasi on Friday after Thursday's hectic
presidential run-off.
Stores and shops in the central
business area, including Adum, Roman Hill, Kejetia and the Central Market, have
all opened for business.
Stores and shops at the Bantama
and Asafo commercial centres were also booming with business activities when
the GNA visited there.
Unlike Thursday, most of the
commercial vehicles were back on the road, thus enhancing the movement of
travellers.
The atmosphere looked generally
relaxed and calm.
Armed policemen were, however,
seen patrolling some of the principal streets, particularly at Adum.
As the results of the presidential
poll kept trickling in via the local FM radio stations, there were no signs of
any serious jubilation.
