Accra (Greater Accra) 15 December 2000
Mrs. Nana Ampratwum, Board Member of Ghana International Trade Fair Centre (GTFC), Thursday asked operators in the gift and souvenir industries to be mindful of the quality of products they produce.
This, she said, would enable them to remain in business and penetrate the international market.
Mrs Ampratwum who was speaking at the opening ceremony of Gift Show 2000 in Accra, noted that the exchange of gifts promotes peace, reconciliation, goodwill and understanding among families, associations and societies as well as parties who are in dispute.
The eleven-day fair is to bring dealers of gift and souvenir items under one roof to make it easy for people to sample and make their choices. It is also to boost the production of gift items in Ghana.
Mrs Ampratwum said that it is imperative for all operators to make their objectives a reality, since Ghana has the opportunity to make itself the focal point of economic activity in the West Africa sub region.
She also expressed the hope that the show, being the first of its kind, has come to stay and therefore advised the general public to take advantage of it to move away from the hustle and bustle of activities in the market.
