Goldfields beat Adansiman in friendly

Obuasi (Ashanti), 7th December 99

Obuasi Goldfields and Obuasi Adansiman sold 90 minutes of good and entertaining football display to the local fans at the Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, prompting many to wonder why Adansiman failed to qualify in the recent first division middle league.

Even though Goldfields run away with a 2-1 victory, Adansiman convinced everybody that they are good materials for the premier division.

It took Goldfields 39 minutes to break the deadlock as substitute Abedi Sarfo, who came on for inside left Ofosu Peasare, capitalised on a defensive mix-up to slot the ball home for the opener.

Adansiman, who wasted a cornerkick in the 42nd minute, came back from the break with greater determination but again threw away a 50th-minute corner.

Centre forward Isaac Boakye of Goldfields sent the stadium ablaze with a beautiful drive that beat goalkeeper Michael Arthur for the premier side's second goal.

Adansiman fought back gallantly and could have redeemed a goal in the 86th minute but substitute Abdul Razak's header to Hope Leveh's pass went off target from close range.

Undaunted, Adansiman pressed hard and pulled a goal back in the 90th minute through substitute Richard Ackaah.
