Mfantsiman United beat Assin Bereku Mighty Warriors 2-1 in their Second Division League match played at Assin Bereku on Tuesday.

 

After a goalless first half, United baffled their opponents with man-to-man passes but they had to wait until the 50th minute before centre forward Kweku Paulino exploited a defensive blunder to head home the opener.

 

Inspired by the lead, United continued to press for more goals and increased the tally to 2-0 in the 60th minute.

 

Warriors hit back in the 80th minute following a move initiated on the right flank by outside right John Mensah who scored from a spot kick in the 81st minute.

Labadi Beach Hotel golf on Sept. 10

This year's Labadi Beach Hotel classic golf championship comes off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, September 10.

 

Mr. John Atta Nyamekye, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Wednesday, said the one-day 18-hole stableford competition opened to amateur golfers from Achimota, Tema and Celebrity golf clubs is expected to attract over 100 participants.

 

He said Men with handicap 18 qualify for participation while those of the

Ladies is pegged at handicap 24.

 

Among the array of golfers who have  registered for the competition from

Achimota are John Atta Nyamekye, the Captain, Mike Aggrey, Nick Smallman, J.F.

Sam, J.P. Delande and Gulder Cup holder, Frank Mills.

 

The Tema team will be led by their captain John Wottenberg, Owusu Adjapong,

J.J. Harvey and Tony Amuzu.

 

Mr Stuart Chase, Managing Director of the hotel will present prizes to the

winners.

 

Meanwhile, the Achimota Golf Club Monthly Medal comes off at the Club's golf

course on September three.

 

Mr Atta Nyamekye called on the members to participate fully and  use the

event to better their handicap for a major tournament.
