Two friends arrested for dealing in Indian hemp

Wa (Upper West), 31st August 99

The Tumu Police have arrest two friends for trafficking in narcotic drugs and possession of arms without licence.

The two Mohammed Mustafa, 25, and Siadi, 20, have been placed in Police custody pending further investigations.

Inspector Daniel Dorkpoh, Upper West Police Public Relations Officer, told newsmen that on August 14 this year, one Fuseini, a farmer at Boichemboi, a village near Tumu, informed the Police that he had supplied maize to Siadi, who has refused to give him back his empty sack.

Siadi's refusal generated an argument during which (Siadi) pulled out a revolver and threatened to kill him.

He said Mr. Fuseini left the scene and reported to the Tumu Police, who on reaching the village saw Siadi conversing with Mustafa who took to his heels on seeing the police but he was and arrested.

A search conducted on Mustafa led to the discovery of a revolver, believed to be the one Siadi had used to threaten the Mr. Fuseini.

Siadi claimed ownership of the revolver and a search in his room revealed a mini fertiliser bag containing some leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Mohammed Mustafa has also claimed ownership of the stuff and both of them would be arraigned after Police investigations.
