Soccer-Club chairmen to appear before probe committee

Accra (Greater Accra) 11 Aug ’99

The Gbadegbe committee, investigating alleged illegal player transfer of Ghanaian footballers, has asked all club chairmen, from colts level through to the premier division, to appear before it on Monday, August 16, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday said this would help the committee cross-check certain facts and figures in relation to some players who have been transferred outside the country.

It is also to find out whether the clubs have kept proper records of players transferred either within the country or abroad.

The statement appealed to aggrieved persons and the general public who have any information on the matter to feel free and appear before the committee.

It, however, warned that if the public fail to corporate, the committee will be compelled to publish it findings based on the information given by the first two witnesses-Ahaji M. N. D. Jawula, Chairman of the Ghana Football Association

and Mr J. Y. Appiah, Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association.

The committee sits from Monday to Friday at 10 a.m .
