Cassette on Holy Spirit launched

Accra (Greater Accra), 10th August 99

Togbe Dagadu VII, Paramount Chief of Akpini Traditional Area and President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, at the weekend launched, 'Gbogbo Kokoe Kplola Nyuie,' meaning Holy Spirit, Good Counsellor,’ a musical cassette of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana, (EP) at North La.

Togbe Dagadu, who is also a member of the Council of State, said long before the advent of the "white man's influence in this part of the world, our forefathers had developed the art and science of music".

He said, despite the efforts by Europeans to perfect harmony in music and the height reached in melody development in the orient, African rhythm holds sway.

This he said is the reason why people of diverse culture, would pay any price for a recorded music, which encompasses rhythm, melody and harmony to satisfy their passion and listening pleasure.

Mr Charles K. Dewornu, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) in a welcoming address said the church was endowed with highly talented musicians and conductors of music but their work had remained unpublished.

He said the decision of the Church to come out with the cassette, therefore, was an attempt to propagate the works of these musicians, especially in the Ewe language.
