Ekutsia Boamu (Central Region) 22 April 2003- The District Chief Executive for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Andrew Mensah on Saturday inaugurated a multi-million cedis cassava processing machine at Ekutsia Boamu, near Abura Dunkwa, and gave the assurance that the government would continue to give the necessary assistance and encouragement to the private sector.

 

He said the establishment of the processing plant by a private businessman, would assist cassava farmers in the area facing marketing problem. Mensah told the farmers to take advantage of the plant to go into large-scale cultivation of cassava to improve upon their financial standards.

 

The DCE appealed to the people to send their children especially girls to school to enable them to become useful future leaders. He also urged the youth to be mindful of their sexual behaviour to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS. Mensah said the Assembly would share its limited resources equally to benefit every community in the District.

Eight Malaysian business delegation arrive

 

Accra (Greater Accra) 22 April 2003- An eight-member business delegation from Malaysia arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday for a three-day business tour of the country. The delegation, which is led by Pun Paim Zainuddin, former Minister of Finance of Malaysia is in the country upon the invitation of President John Agyekum Kufuor.

 

They are expected to hold talks with President Kufuor on areas where the two countries would co-operate-water, energy, ports and road and bridge construction. Kwamena Bartels, Minister for Private Sector Development met the delegation on arrival and said the visit would deepen the already existing relations between both countries and also enhance economic co-operation between them.
