Champion
club Accra Hearts of Oak are simply unstoppable in this season’s ABC Premier
League.
At
the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, Hearts made light work of in-form Tema
Ghapoha, beating them 4-0 in their sixth week outstanding league match.
Ghapoha
kicked off but it was Hearts who seized the initiative and came very close to
scoring as early as the fourth minute when Charles Taylor's shot was saved by
goalkeeper Joseph Mensah.
Hearts
dominated play and came close to scoring again in the 15th and 16th minutes but
Ishmael Addo and Kenneth Sarpong, respectively, wasted the chances that came
their way.
In
the 32nd minute Hearts took the lead through Charles Taylor when he brilliantly
outwitted a Ghapoha defender in the penalty area before shooting into the roof
of the net for the first goal. Hearts came close to increasing their lead in
the 37th minute but Addo's shot agonisingly whisked past the post after he had
dribbled past two Ghapoha defenders on the run.
Ghapoha
put their act together and nearly got the equaliser but Sam Arthur's header
grazed the goal post, leaving the scores at Hearts one Ghapoha nil at the end
of the first half.
The
Ghapoha defence lost concentration momentarily on resumption thus allowing Addo
to punish them when he pounced on a loose ball and run all alone to slot in the
second goal for Hearts in the 46th minute.
Ghapoha's
defence came under intense pressure as Hearts dominated play and it came as no
surprise when Joe Ansah finished off a beautiful pull out from Addo for the
third goal in the 59th minute.
Ghapoha
made two substitutions in the 60th minute replacing Arthur and Bernard Don
Bortey with Kamil Yunus and John Ainoo respectively but they could not alter
the pattern of play as Hearts continued to dominate play and scored the fourth
goal in the 85th minute through Amankwa Mireku.
