Atwima-Kwanwoma bank to pay interest on current accounts

     Kumasi (Ashanti Region) 03 April 2000

 

The Atwima-Kwanwoma Rural Bank is to pay interest on current accounts every quarter of the year.

The bank is also taking steps to reduce the Commission on turnover (COT) charges, give concessionary rates and grant a waiver on the accounts of every good turnover account.

Mr Godfried Odame-Asare, Supervising Manager of the bank disclosed at a cocktail organised for its valued customers in Kumasi last Friday to create an avenue for interaction between the Management, Board and customers to share ideas for improving the bank.

Mr Odame-Asare said by the end of February this year, the bank had mobilised 6.6 billion cedis in deposits and 8.2 billion cedes assets.

Mr George Kyei Baffour, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said the bank has earmarked 25 million cedis for development projects within its area of operation as against about 15 million cedis last year.

The bank gave 30 million cedis for the provision of furniture and the rehabilitation of seven schools.

Mr Kyei-Baffour urged customers and people within its area of operation to patronise the bank to enable it undertake more development projects.

Market Index makes significant gain

Accra (Greater Accra) 03 March 2000

 

The Ghana Stock Exchange on Friday registered a significant gain after marking time for two successive sessions.

The All-Share Index went up by 2.24 points, representing 0.30 per cent increase from Wednesday's close of 760.86 points to 763.10 points.

Shares traded, however, remained low but edged up slightly at 7,700 from 4,000 recorded at the last trading session.

The volume of shares demanded almost matched offers as a result of a sudden interest to purchase one million shares of Mechanical Lloyd Company Limited (MLC).

Shares demanded thus finished at 1,027,800 while offers closed at 1, 250,210.

The figures are not very different from those recorded on Wednesday which had offers closing at 1,249,710 with bids at 1,043,100.

Market capitalisation finished the week at 3,247.87 billion cedis as against 3,244.34 billion cedis.

In the broader market, there were two price changes of 12 cedis gain by Fan Milk Ghana Limited (FML) at 972 cedis and 20 cedis gain by Ghana Commercial Bank at 905 cedis.
