Stock Exchange opens trading weaker
Accra (Greater Accra) 20 April
The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) continued its slide during trading on Monday with the main market index, the GSE All-Share Index, losing 0.9 points to close at 821.34 points with no price gains but one loss.
The index closed last Friday at 822.24 points.
The market, which has been overshadowed by bearish sentiments, saw investors showing no inclination of acquiring new shares with prices of equities remaining high.
The volume of shares traded was down from last Friday's 192,500 to 23,900 with only six equities making sales while bids were also lower at 453,700 shares from 1.023 million shares.
Market capitalisation finished slightly lower at 3.324 billion cedis from the previous 3.325 billion cedis with offers standing at 2.5 million shares down from Friday's 3.3 million shares.
In the broader market, there was only one price change SSB Bank (SSB) lost 20 cedis to finish trading at 1,730 cedis.
